Granite is a very commonly known material as it has been popular for many years. Granite is a natural rock that is cut from its natural state, it is then cut and polished for your home. This is a very dense and hard material that can also handle changes in temperature well. You will have to make sure you keep on top of maintenance for this material, it will need to be sealed regularly to avoid stains and discolouration. Due to being a natural stone all slabs will look different and you will often need to plan your kitchen around the fact that each slab can look different. For example if your kitchen will require just over one slab, your island could look slightly different from the rest of your kitchen.
